JOIN US IN PROTESTS AT I.C.E. OFFICES ACROSS THE NATION at 4PM!
It is imperative that we send a message to I.C.E., President Bush and the upcoming Democratic Party Convention that there must be AN IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON ALL RAIDS, DEPORTATIONS, INCARCERATIONS AND SEPARATION OF FAMILIES.
On the defensive after congressional hearings that raked I.C.E. over the coals for the cruel, abusive and "Gestapo like" raids in IOWA, I.C.E. responded with a so-called "humanitarian" way to deport half a million people – AND THEIR U.S. CITIZEN FAMILIES!..
"Operation Scheduled Departure" called for nearly half a million people who have had final orders of deportation, who have no criminal records but are classified as fugitives because they have not left the country, to turn themselves in. I.C.E. promised to give them 3 months to "settle their affairs" before they were deported. The agency even offered to provide transportation for their U.S. citizen or legal resident children or spouses to leave with them!
Along with this ridiculous and racist "offer" came the real news !
I.C.E. announced that it has OVER 100 TEAMS of agents working full time to seek out and arrest these 500,000 people who, even according to I.C.E., have done nothing wrong except come to this country, accepted employment from U.S. companies, pay taxes and support their families.
Already we have witnessed I.C.E. agents waiting outside of schools and day care centers to track down parents. I.C.E. has enlisted police in some states to set up road blocks as people come to church on Sunday. I.C.E. agents are coming into our neighborhoods in the dead of night and knocking on our doors, terrorizing our children.
What we have to look forward to in the next six months is a multi-million dollar manhunt aimed at individuals and their families that pose no threat to this nation, are contributing to the economy and have no criminal record or charges against them – all because congressional democrats and republicans were playing politics instead of completing the work of comprehensive immigration reform. Because of their inaction, our entire community, and especially our children, will live in a constant state of fear and hiding and good hardworking families will be destroyed.
THIS MADNESS MUST STOP!
On Friday, August 22nd, we call on all organizations and concerned individuals, but especially LATINAS, to organize protests in front of your local I.C.E. office at 4 p.m. (at your local time) to demand an immediate moratorium on fugitive searches against these 500,000 individuals who have no criminal records.
We call on our people to contact delegates leaving for the Democratic Convention to insure that the Democratic Convention goes on record calling for an immediate moratorium on raids, deportations, incarcerations and separations of families until comprehensive immigration reform is finally agreed on in the next Congress.
Ask your delegates and especially members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to stand with you on Friday, August 22nd, in front of I.C.E.
We call on Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama to make clear their commitment to our community by joining in this call for an immediate moratorium on the convention floor!

UNANSE CON NOSOTRAS EN PROTESTAS FRENTE LAS OFICINAS DE I.C.E. (INMIGRACION) EN TODO EL PAIS
Es esencial que enviemos un mensaje ICE, al Presidente Bush y a la Convención del Partido Demócrata que demandamos un MORATORIO INMEDIATO SOBRE LAS REDADAS, DEPORTACIONES, ENCARCELAMIENTOS Y SEPARACION DE FAMILIAS.
Tomando una posición defensiva después de que las audiencias del Congreso produjeron fuertes críticas por las redadas "tipo GESTAPO", crueles y abusivas en Iowa, I.C.E. ha respondido con un plan supuestamente "humanitario" de deportar a medio millón de personas Y SUS FAMILIAS INCLUYENDO CIUDADANOS NORTEAMERICANOS.
"Operación Salida Programada" ("Scheduled Departure") dispone que casi medio millón de personas que tienen ordenes finales de deportación, que no tienen antecedentes criminales pero que se califican como prófugas porque no han abandonado al país, se entreguen a las autoridades. I.C.E. ha prometido darles 3 meses para "arreglar sus asuntos" antes de ser deportados. Inclusive la dependencia ha ofrecido proveer transportación para sus hijos y esposas que son ciudadanos/as o residentes legales para que salgan con ellos.
Junto con esta oferta absurda y racista vino la verdadera novedad:
I.C.E. anunció que mas de 100 equipos de agentes están trabajando tiempo completo para hallar y detener a esas 500,000 personas quienes, admite el mismo I.C.E., no han hecho nada malo excepto venir a este país, aceptar un empleo, pagar sus impuestos y apoyar a sus familias.
Ya hemos visto a agentes de I.C.E. esperando fuera de las escuelas y guarderías infantiles para detener a los padres de familia. I.C.E. ha alistado a los policías en algunos estados para colocar retenes en las carreteras para detener a la gente que va rumbo a la iglesia en los domingos. Agentes de I.C.E están penetrando a nuestros vecindarios en el medio de la noche golpeando a nuestras puertas y asustando a nuestros hijos.
Lo que podemos anticipar en los próximos seis meses es una cacería de gente costando millones de dólares, dirigido a personas y sus familias que no representan ninguna amenaza en absoluto a esta nación, que están contribuyendo a la economía y no tienen cargos criminales en su contra, por la razón de que los demócratas y republicanos en el Congreso han estado haciendo jueguitos de politiquería en lugar de completar la labor de una reforma migratoria. Por razón de su falta de acción, toda nuestra comunidad y sobretodo nuestros hijos tienen que vivir constantemente atemorizados, y familias buenas y trabajadores van a ser destruidas.
¡HAY QUE PONER FIN A ESTA LOCURA!
El viernes 22 de agosto, hacemos un llamado a todas las organizaciones e individuos de conciencia, pero sobretodo LATINAS a que organicen protestas en frente de las oficinas de I.C.E. en su comunidad, a las 4 p.m. (su hora regional) para exigir un moratorio inmediato en las búsquedas "de fugitivos" de las 500,000 personas que no tienen antecedentes criminales.
Hacemos un llamado a la gente que contacten a los delegados que van rumbo a la Convención del Partido Demócrata para asegurar que la Convención se expresa oficialmente a favor de un moratorio sobre las redadas, deportaciones, encarcelamientos y separación de familias, hasta que se finalice una reforma integral de inmigración el próximo Congreso.
Pidan a sus delegados y especialmente a los integrantes del "Hispanic Caucus" que presencien con ustedes el viernes 22 de agosto enfrente de las oficinas de I.C.E.

I would like to start off by thanking you so much for taking interest in this event. This informational session is basically to inform all people how they can be more active in fighting for immigrant rights according to their status. This event is for people of all ages. Immigrants, residents, and citizens are welcome. This event will mainly be in Spanish; however, English speakers are welcome too.
At the end of this event, we will be getting all the people eligible to register to vote. We want to stress the importance of voting. If we want to see a change in our nation, we need to make sure that the pro-immigrant votes increase. Even though, we might be pro-immigrant, we need to take action to let everyone else know. Later, we will be having events all in English and specifically for Youth.
Also, at the end of this event, I will be getting a contact list for all the people who want to join the Youth Council that I will be starting. This will be a group that focuses mainly on the DREAM act and other issues that impact the youth community.
I have attached the flier for this event. You are welcome to distribute this to all the people you know. Also, if you know anyone that might be interested in this email list please let me know so that I can add them.
